Up The California Coast

While in the park, we camped out on the ground in sleeping bags arranged like spokes in a wagon wheel around a campfire with a few guys fresh out of the army that we met from the next camp site.  In the middle of the night I awoke from a rustling noise to see a huge black bear going through the trash cans and belongings in our campground.  Fortunately, something scared the bear off that night! In fact, if truth be told, that something was the after effects of some
stuff-on-a-shingle” (favorite army cuisine) that our neighboring camp fellows had whipped up for all of us for dinner. I swear, it wasn’t me! But I happened to wake up in time to witness the bear being startled by “the loud noise” (I suspect from one of the boys) and running off out of the camp at top speed. It was so hard not to bust out laughing and I couldn’t wait to tell my girl friends in the morning what happened!
